First Impressions: Dynamic Customer Segmentation

At Digital Summit DC Ashley spoke to a crowd of about 300 marketing professionals about how to implement AI into their customer segmentation for better, faster and more actionable results. AI is not just for the computer science nerds (though she is proud to be among this group). It can be incorporated easily into marketing initiatives and used to not only increase engagement with potential customers but to understand those customers more quickly so that you can talk to them on their level. Personalization via AI is not just for the huge corporations like Netflix and Google, it's for everybody!

Gender Bias in AI: From Conflict to Compromise

How can we ensure that the AI applications of today don't exacerbate the biases and inequities of yesterday? Since machine intelligence learns primarily from observing data that it is presented with, it is important that gender balance in machine learning is crucial to prevent algorithms from perpetuating gender ideologies that disadvantage women and others. At this event Ashley spoke on a panel with two other data scientists on how to solve this issue.

A Seat at the Table: A Conversation About Diversity in the Workplace

For International Women's Day Ashley spoke on inclusion in the tech space for women and people of color. She sat on a panel with 4 accomplished women including Bobbie Carlton as the moderator to talk on how to deal with uncomfortable work situations, how to be taken seriously in male dominated industries and why it is important to have women and men involved in the conversation of women in the workplace.

Unsupervised Learning for Segmentation

At #dataMindsConnect, Ashley Bryant-Baker shared customer segmentation techniques using machine learning in a streamlined, iterative fashion for technologists who are working on building more robust customer data. This session taught the audience how to implement machine learning models in order to understand customers quickly, automate the segmentation process and understand when and how to use this technology early even on a small or fairly new dataset.

Kaggle Days: Local Female Data Scientists Share Their Experiences

Ashley has participated in several Kaggle Days Meetups, a series of events all over the world, created by Kaggle and LogicAI, that aim to gather Kagglers and people interested in Data Science.

SXSW Hidden Figures: Exposing Bias in AI

Artificial intelligence is increasingly influencing our society and our behavior. One of the challenges with the machine learning algorithms (used in AI applications) is the over-representation of biased data - especially around gender, racial profiles, and ethnic backgrounds. This panel discussion will focus on the algorithmic bias - it’s impact, detection, and mitigation strategies. It offers government, technology and industry leaders a set of recommendations, best practices, as well as consumer-focused techniques -all of which will promote the fair and ethical deployment of AI.
